Hey all!
Well I am a 57 year old software engineer and I had the sweetest job in the job in the world. We were going like gangbusters. Got a HUGE bonus in March for all the work we did in 2019 and then the plan to unseat a President happened. Now, I would like to say that I have very strong Beliefs and I am NEVER shy about talking about them. God, Country, Guns, Family and Guitar! No particular order there just whatever I feel like at the moment I guess.
Okay, back to the plan to unseat the Greatest President ever. In short I got laid off. I was mainly focused on moving our software architecture for our stores to the cloud. Well, when you close all the stores anyways, why would you need me? Unemployment, being PAID to stay home, was boring me so I thought what the heck! I bought a $300 Squire Strat from Sweetwater and started teaching myself how to really ROCK! I have always been a head banger, AC/DC. Krokus, Pantera etc. in the early days and now well AC/DC, Chevelle, Stryper, Skillet, Metallica etc. I used to play Guitar Hero all the time on my XBOX and now I play Rocksmith on it, pretty cool way to learn chords and some fingerings! After 14 weeks of being overpaid to stay home when there was no danger to begin with I thumbed my nose at my Governor-Jay Inslee (What a tool) and got another job. Now I am working from home, continuing to learn guitar, and now piano and bass guitar as well and studying music theory (Geek Engineer in me I guess!)
I stumbled onto Mike Gross because I was looking to learn the Chorus Riff from Triumphs, "Lay It On the Line." Honestly Mike between you and Rick Emmett I was amazed how fast I learned it!
Now I am mainly struggling with how my guitar sounds through the AMP! I have a Fender Mustang GTX-50 that has 200 presets and I finally whittled it down to about 80 but I don't know enough yet to know how to get a sound like for instance Stryper's guitars? I think I have too many choices and not enough knowledge but i recently got Guitar Amps for Dummies so maybe I will learn there!
That's me, Geek, Engineer, Rocker, Tennis player and clean living okay a JD and coke once in awhile!
