Tough question,
I used to watch my Uncle play in a few bands when I was a child and always thought it was cool. So that probably started me off, but back then the only way I could learn was Hendrix style with an upside down Fender Strat copy by Squier.
Even now i have no real ambitions for band playing myself, I just like to lock myself in the room and jam away to tracks I have loved over the years.

Sadly at young age maybe 12, we had a house fire. Our family was very tense and lot of emotion after the fire. So at 15 Stuck in a 5 total room apartment with a older brother who I can't stand, I buried myself in music. For 35 minutes a day after school i could crank up angry music and just scream. Lots of misfits , Metallica , flaw. My older bro comes home with a green to blue trans burst strat copy, I remember series10 on the head stock. So I tried to learn what I could. This gave me a outlet. I finally had something to focus my attention to and shut out the bullshit. A song my bro was working on he wasn't getting. After hearing his friend say over and over don't forget the low e string. So walked in and asked to give it a run. Think it was a acid bath tune, bleeding ocean ? Pissed him off and was told never touch his guitar again. Saved up my birthday cash, money from working at my dad's garage, fixing bikes for local kids. Ran to music go round and looked at a guy with this defeated sense on my head. Told him I have 118$ I would like a electric guitar only request was black. They had a harmony strat copy tagged at 115$ I didn't have the tax. When told my parents about it they seemed to dismiss it. Few days later I step into my room and stumble over a small crate amp. Thought it was my bros so I went to put it back. Nope his amp is right there in the corner. Turned around and my dad is there with the strat in hand. Says I took your cash to get the guitar , apparently you need a amp to go with it. Sorry so long winded but each piece is just as important as the others.
